The Branford High School Track Team began in 1925 under the direction of John Knecht a volunteer coach who took a group of students to the Housy Relays and finished in second place.  In 1959 Branford finished 5th at the Housy Meet as a club team.  In 1960 they returned to this meet as a club team and once again finished in 5th place. The program had their first official team in 1961 under the direction of coach James McKeon with 28 students and captains S. Federation, K. Frankish and K. Kells
